Locum Anesthesiologist Opportunity – Hopewell, VA
Start Date: Any of the open weeks below
Duration: Ongoing (multiple date ranges listed below)
Location: Hopewell, VA
Credentialing Timeline: 60–90 days
Hourly Rate: $325 + Travel & Lodging

Coverage Dates Needed:

July 8 – July 13

August 2 – August 10

August 25 – August 31

December 22 – December 28

Shift Structure:

Weekdays: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on-site + 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM home call

Weekends: 24-hour home call (rarely called in between 11 PM – 7 AM)

On average, anesthesiologists work 38–40 in-house hours/week

Overtime kicks in after 40 hours M–F, and all in-house weekend hours (6-hour minimum guaranteed Sat/Sun)

Practice Details:

Hospital-based setting with occasional shifts at an affiliated surgery center 15 minutes away

Supervision model: 1 MD to 6 CRNAs (CRNA handles all pre-ops)

Physicians do their own cases ~70% of the time

EMR: Medaxion (iPad-based system – training provided)

Active Virginia license preferred (will consider licensing candidates with realistic timeline provided)

Case Types:

General surgery, women’s health, orthopedics, oncology, spine, endoscopy, and more

Cardiac TEE certification position available as well (higher pay available for Cardiac)

Travel & Lodging:

Paid separately from hourly rate

Consilium will arrange and submit receipts for flights, lodging, and rental car (no meal per diem or incidental reimbursement)
