Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist Option B for the Chester Mental Health Center located in Chester, Illinois. As a non-administrative Illinois licensed Physician, utilizes knowledge of medical practice and techniques of a Board-Certified physician in Internal Medicine, providing delivery of medical services to recipients and in consulting with other staff members concerning the medical status and treatment of patients and/or staff. Chester Mental Health Center strives to assist patients to achieve their full recovery potential.
Essential Functions
• Conducts thorough and comprehensive medical studies of recipients including mental and physical examinations, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic procedures, conducts general medicine clinics for recipients and prescribes medications and medical treatments as a practicing family care practitioner.
• As an Internal Medicine practitioner, coordinates and directs medical intervention personally and through others, the medical treatment program for all recipients.
• Conducts physical examinations of employees with work related injuries or physical, medical complaints of an emergency nature and provides medical consultation, care, treatment, and appropriate referral as directed by facility and departmental policy.
• As an Internal Medicine practitioner, writes reports documenting the findings, conclusions, and treatments for assigned recipients.
• Participates in the medical staff meetings and committees as mandated by accreditation standards and as outlined by the medical staff by-laws.
• Serves in elected office or appointment to chairmanship of any of the defined committees.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
• Requires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
• Requires American Board Certification in the job-related medical specialty of Internal Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
• Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating the quality of specialized medical care and treatment for patients with mental illness.
• Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in Internal Medicine conducting examinations.
• Two (2) years of professional experience identifying most appropriate positive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordance with best practices.
• Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Two (2) years of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.
