Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and independent CRNA to join a CRNA-only team at a 25+ bed critical access hospital on a remote island. This locum tenens role offers a unique 9-week rotation with a great work-life balance and the opportunity to practice autonomously across a wide variety of cases. Ideal candidates are confident in independent anesthesia practice and experienced in rural or critical access settings.

Key Responsibilities:
-Deliver a full range of anesthesia services: general, sedation, spinals, epidurals, and regional blocks
-Respond to Code Blues and trauma cases as part of the emergency team
-Provide OB anesthesia support including labor epidurals and scheduled c-sections
Perform regional blocks (e.g., interscalene, femoral, adductor canal, etc.)
-Assist with intubations, sedation, and other procedures in the ED
-Participate in scheduled shifts and 24/7 home call (30-minute response time)
-Function independently in a CRNA-only model with no MDAs on site

Schedule Details:
9-week rotation:
2 weeks of 24/7 home call (Tues AM – Tues AM)
4 weeks of Tuesday–Friday 10-hour shifts (7 AM – 5 PM)
3 weeks off
Approx. 6 sedation shifts/month at a nearby clinic location

Flexible options available (e.g., 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off)

Case Mix:
~30 cases/week; 95% bread-and-butter

Endoscopy, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, OB/GYN, dental, podiatry

OB: ~8 deliveries/month, ~70% epidural rate, low-risk only

No high-risk cases planned

  • Ongoing for 6 months, with chance of extension
  • Autonomous Practice in a CRNA-Only Model
  • Wide variety of bread-and-butter cases (endo, ortho, OB/GYN, ENT)
