Details:
• Start date: as soon as credentials are issued
• Contract length: 4–6 months
• Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm (no call, no weekends)
• Practice setting: Outpatient clinic and academic hospital
• Facility type: Outpatient neurosurgery clinic
• Location: California (must hold CA license)
Requirements:
• Profession: Physician Assistant
• License: California license required at time of submission
• Certifications: BLS, DEA with Schedule II and II-N
• Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in neurospine, ortho spine, or pain management (must include spine). Will consider neurosurgery or neurology providers if spine experience is clear
• Education (PAs): Must hold a master's degree in PA studies
• Interview process: Zoom – first with APP team, then department chair
Day-to-Day Details:
• 100% outpatient – no OR or inpatient duties
• APP will support vice chair and manage post-op and follow-ups
• Surgical team handles new/pre-op; APP handles imaging, triage, meds, and calls
• Procedures: staple/drain removal, wound care. Injections (hip/knee/trigger points) optional if experienced
• Patient population: Adults only
• Charting: Epic
• Volume: 20–22 in-person daily; up to 26 if adding telehealth
• Support: 7 other APPs, 5 surgeons, 2 physiatrists, MAs, schedulers
• Environment: Academic medical center preferred
