Locum - Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Trauma Redding, CA
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Trauma NP or PA to provide short-term coverage for a Level II Trauma Center. This is an evening shift assignment with responsibilities focused on trauma patient management, coordination with the on-call trauma surgeon, and collaboration with daytime advanced practice staff. Pediatric trauma experience is required, though the pediatric volume is low.
Schedule & Assignment Details:
Dates Needed: August 8–10
Shift Time: 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
Setting: Level II Trauma Center
EMR: Cerner Care B
Support Staff: One daytime Trauma NP/PA (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Patients: Average daily census of 20–25 trauma service patients
Patient Population: Primarily adults, low pediatric trauma volume.
Duties Include:
Monitoring, managing, and discharging patients on the trauma service
Performing both low/moderate and high-risk procedures:
Low/Moderate Risk: Laceration repair, IV insertion, fracture/dislocation reduction
High Risk: G-tube placement, intubation, cardioversion, LMA, paracentesis, chest tube, central/arterial line placement
Collaborating with trauma surgeon on-call
Must be qualified to manage pediatric trauma cases
Requirements:
License: Active California NP or PA license
PAs: Must have completed California Controlled Substance Education Course (CSEC)
NPs: Must have CA NP furnishing number
Certifications (all required at time of submission):
NCCPA or ANCC certification
ATLS (HARD REQUIREMENT)
ACLS, BLS, DEA
Experience: Must have trauma experience and current work in a TJC-accredited hospital
Availability: Must be available for all posted dates at the time of submission
Preferred: Local candidates (no flights), clean malpractice/background strongly preferred
