Emergency Medicine Physician needed in East Tennessee
Job description
• 16 bed ED
• Avg daily volume 75 (+/- 15)
• 24 hours physician coverage – 6a-6p; 6p-6a
• 24 hours of APP coverage – 9a-9p; 2p-2a
• APPs see 12-14 on a slow day and 18-20 on busy depending on efficiency of APP
• Hospital services include 16 ICU beds, cardio, general surgery, urology, GI (including ERCP), Peds, Radiology, OB, Anesthesia,
• There is Air Evac base on hospital grounds
• Trauma typically goes to Regional One in Memphis
• Dyersburg is the largest facility with the most capability in many nearby rural counties
• Patients are quite sick once they reach this ED – requiring emergent interventions to stabilize including intubations and central lines
• Some traumatic patients from MVC’s to violent crimes so placing chest tubes is not uncommon
• Solid, experienced, and dependable nursing staff and good leadership. Core group of providers are cohesive and have been working there for many years
• Patient population – more rural, simple, under educated group – take time with them explaining things
• Jackson General only 45 min away has level 2 trauma center with full scope, specialist support and easy transfers
